The hepatitis panel checks for evidence of a hepatitis A, B or C infection in the blood.
Test Type: Blood
Test Results: Typically 4 days
The hepatitis panel, also known as a hepatitis A B C test panel, checks for hepatitis A, B and C infections in the blood.
Hepatitis A, B and C are infections of the liver caused by different types of viruses. In the short-term, hepatitis can cause flu-like symptoms and jaundice (yellow skin) although sometimes hepatitis infections cause no symptoms. In the long-term, hepatitis can cause long-term liver health issues.
This hepatitis panel includes three tests - the hepatitis A IgM antibody, hepatitis B surface antigen and the hepatitis C test. To get a hepatitis panel near you, just order online and get your blood tested at the Quest Diagnostics lab. Once your hepatitis lab results are ready, they will be available for download.
Hepatitis panel results may not be accurate in people who have a suppressed immune system or are receiving mouse antibody therapy. Also, inaccurate hepatitis blood panel results may occur shortly after getting a flu shot and in people with hypergammaglobulinemia, positive rheumatoid factor, and connective tissue disorders.
This hepatitis blood panel is a component of this liver health test panel.
